Less than two months to go, sessions filling fast with some already full!

Sessions are filling fast and with less than two months till the MAV17 conference, don’t delay in booking in!

The MAV17 54th conference will be held at La Trobe University on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 December. This year’s conference theme is Achieving excellence in M.A.T.H.S and the five sub themes – Mindset, Assessing, Targeting, Hands-on, and Shifting the Narrative.

Engagement and Mathematics: What is it, and what does it look like?

As a result of attending this keynote, participants will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the construct of student engagement
  • Be introduced to the Framework for Engagement with Mathematics
  • Explore a range of engaging mathematics tasks
  • Discuss a range of tasks in relation to their potential to improve student engagement with
  • mathematics
  • Investigate ways to engage students through the use of technology

As a result of attending this keynote, participants will:

  • Discuss and generate ideas of ways to build collective efficacy among teams of staff,
    and students.
  • Strategies for helping students to gain confidence in the Maths classroom.
  • Practical ideas for using student assessment data to reflect on teaching practice, and
    focus on areas of misconception.
  • Gathering, and using, student feedback data to enhance student-teacher relationships and improve student outcomes
