Our maths education programs are growing and we have opportunities available!

Mathematics Education Consultant, Secondary Schools

  • Help take established program to the next level
  • Team focussed role, with a hands-on approach
  • Opportunity to share your expertise for the good of mathematics education
  • Are you ready for the next step in your career?
  • Part time (0.6)

The Mathematical Association of Victoria (MAV) is seeking an inspiring and organised Education Consultant (Secondary School), who is capable of supporting our existing program. This is part time role, 3 days per week.

MAV Education Consultants work as part of a dynamic team to ensure the timely, efficient delivery of a range of services related to the professional work of the Association. In particular the provision of quality professional development and teacher events, student activities, membership activities, the annual conference, and the development and dissemination of resources and publications for mathematics educators.

To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter, able to demonstrate exceptional communication, leadership, mathematical knowledge, pedagogical knowledge and organisational skills. You will require excellent team orientation to work collaboratively with staff including other consultants, events staff, volunteers and committees across various projects. You will also possess an ability to direct people when required, and to just get things done.

You will be willing to get hands-on to address all aspects of the role. You will be responsible for the end to end process of your allocated programs, and will work with other consultants to deliver programs. Experience in the following will be highly advantageous; organising and delivering events such as professional development or student activity days, creating and managing budgets, consulting in schools, and developing educational resources.

You will be able to hit the ground running and make a positive contribution to the team, ensuring each program runs smoothly and is successful. If you think this is the role for you, apply now including a cover letter and CV addressing the key requirements.

You must be an Australian citizen or able to work in Australia. We require the successful applicant to start as soon as possible in term 2. A drivers licence and ability to travel to regional areas for events is required.

A position description is available upon request. Remuneration is as per Leading Teacher rates aligned to experience.

Send your applications to psaffin@mav.vic.edu.au ASAP or by Wednesday 28th March.

Mathematics Education Consultants, Primary Schools (Contract)

Due to an expanding program of consulting, MAV requires Primary Education Consultants who can work as contractors to support delivery of consulting services to primary schools:
•    You would be engaged as an independent contractor to deliver services on behalf of MAV
•    Work could be regular and ongoing during term time
•    Some one-off projects may be available
•    Expertise in maths education, maths leadership and preferably experience with project management, introducing new programs into schools, organising education based events, and/or education consulting is required

If this is of interest send your CV and a cover letter outlining your experience and areas of interest to Peter Saffin, CEO; psaffin@mav.vic.edu.au
